Matthew Flinders

About the vessel …

Owned by Hedley Saunders since May 2012, the Matthew Flinders has been moored at Exmouth Marina for three winters. The vessel is named after English navigator and cartographer, Captain Matthew Flinders, who led the first circumnavigation of Australia and identified it as a continent. Loved for its beautiful sailing performance, this Jeaneau Sun Odyssey 33i Performance Edition has an LOA of 9.96m, beam of 3.34m and draft of 1.9m.

ABOUT ITS VOYAGES …

You’ll find Hedley racing the Matthew Flinders off Exmouth in Lyme Bay every week, but he also enjoys sailing further afield, visiting South Brittany, North Brittany, Ushant and the Isles of Scilly. This year, Hedley is organising a trip to Seine Bay in northern France. Among the many voyages Hedley has made in the Matthew Flinders, one particularly memorable passage involved crossing the English Channel from Falmouth to Audierne, passing through the Chanel du Four and Raz de Sein on one tide.
